Sites (1) and cloud services (5) do not change the fixed price. They are passed to the quote because they set the scope description and, for Plus, the device sample. IASME bands verified 4 November 2026. Going direct instead? The IASME fee for your band is £440 + VAT, or £110 + VAT with IASME's government-funded 75% discount if you are UK-registered, have not held Cyber Essentials in the last four years and buy by 31 March 2027.
What are you paying for?
Two things. The IASME assessment fee funds the scheme and the assessor who marks your submission. The certification body's price covers the help you get before and during the assessment: scoping, answering the notes fields, fixing gaps and, for Plus, the audit itself. Some bodies charge the fee and nothing else; the difference is how much of the work lands on you.
Why does Cyber Essentials Plus cost more?
Plus adds an audit. An assessor scans your internet-facing addresses, runs an authenticated patch scan on a sample of devices, tests malware protection, checks MFA on your cloud services and checks account separation. The sample grows with the number of devices in scope, which is why the Plus price is tiered by device count.
Frequently asked questions
The IASME assessment fee depends on headcount: £320 for 0 to 9 staff, £440 for 10 to 49 staff, £500 for 50 to 249 staff, £600 for 250+ staff, all ex VAT. Precursor's fixed price for Cyber Essentials is from £1,500 + VAT and includes that fee, a scope review, verification of your answers, the certificate and badge, and a free re-test if gaps are found.
Precursor prices Cyber Essentials Plus by the number of devices in scope: up to 50 devices from £3,000 (2 to 3 weeks), 50 to 250 devices from £4,500 (2 to 4 weeks), 250+ devices from £5,000 (3 to 5 weeks), all + VAT. The price includes everything in Cyber Essentials (the verified self-assessment Plus builds on), the audit, the remediation report, a free re-test and the IASME fee. The 50 to 250 device tier also includes a pre-assessment gap analysis.
Yes. The calculator shows the IASME fee on its own line so you can see it, but it is inside the Precursor price rather than added on top. The total is the Cyber Essentials price, or the Plus price if you choose Plus (which already includes Cyber Essentials), plus a standalone gap analysis if you add one.
The fixed price is set by level and, for Plus, by device count. Sites and cloud services describe the scope and shape the Plus device sample, so they are attached to your quote, but they do not move the figure.
From £500 + VAT as a standalone service, turnaround 1 to 3 days. It covers gap identification, remediation guidance and support with the questionnaire, and is recommended for first-time applicants. A pre-assessment gap analysis is included in the 50 to 250 device Cyber Essentials Plus tier.
The figure on screen is the published starting price for the inputs you gave. Precursor fixes the price in writing after a free 20-minute scoping call, with no open-ended day rates or hidden fees. If your scope turns out to be different from what you entered, the quote says so before any work starts.
